The Sugar fridge magnet tech demo…

Here is a technical demo (dont expect it to look too good yet) of the top 300 pixels or so of the new Sugar website. You can rearrange the magnets in any way you want and, when you hit the save button, it will save it so the next person on the site will see how you left it. There are also a couple of presets in there if you get in muddle. Dont forget to type you name in too.

You can throw them around to but dont be too fierce..they will fall off the fridge never to be seen again!(until you hit the refresh button). Its been built in Flash using PHP and MySQL to save and load the locations of the magnets and the TweenMax Actionscript framework for some of the subtle animations.

Sugar Creative Studio are working in partnership with Equinox PR in the launch and maintenance of the new The Valleys websites.(with Homecoming and Heart & Soul of Wales)

We have been commissioned by Visit Wales to help maintain and update the sites with videos, games and viral content. We’ve already had the opportunity to attend the recent “Homecoming” gig with the Lost Prophets at their school in Pontypridd to produce a couple of small videos documenting their return…

(I may have to try that chip shop next time im close by!)

Human based User Interface

Sugar are loving this great conceptual video developed by a Barcelona based Natural Interaction project called Multitouch. The concept is based around a real human User Interface which is acted out by a guy in a box! The scrollbars are a great touch. Definitely worth watching.

Augmented Reality. eh?

Dan and I have been tinkering with a new (ish) kind of technology called Augmented Reality (AR). AR is a combination of real-world and computer-generated data (virtual reality), where computer graphics objects are blended into real footage in real time. The plugin developed by ARMedia enables 3d models in Sketchup to be exported into the real world with a little help from a webcam…in this case, a showhouse.

It opens up so many possibilities regarding prototype presentations, exhibition design and architectural visualisation. Imagine being able to walk your clients through your latest project right there in front of them and inviting them to take a look. They can even be animated.

BWM have recently used this techology for a viral ad campaign for its new Z4…Or you can take care of your own AR pet. If your that way inclined you could even tickle a sasquatch in AR!

Video Projection Showreel.

I absolutely love this method of external projection. For those who havent come across this before, its a method of projection that beams images and film onto buildings giving a simulated 3D effect.

The dragon segment and the wireframe segments are absolutely spectacular.
